NHBSR Committees are structured to expand the ability of the staff and Board to innovate and expand NHBSR’s reach while meeting organizational objectives and overall mission. Committees are a great way to support the organization with your time and energy and can also be a stepping stone for those interested in becoming a Board member.

Programming Groups

Programming Committee

To evaluate the members’ sustainability needs, recognizing current trends in order to develop relevant programming and/or cohorts to move sustainability forward

  1. Evaluate opportunities for new programs and events
  2. Adapt and respond to dynamic needs
  3. Assess effectiveness of current programs
  4. Develop and monitor programming to deepen engagement within member companies and community stakeholders
  5. Encouraging collaboration and partnerships
  6. Identify and secure funding to support new programming

The committee meets semi-annually. Committee members are asked to join one of the Ad hoc committees below.

Spring Conference Planning Committee
Programming ad-hoc committee

To develop a dynamic and engaging program to advance sustainable business in northern New England by connecting big thinkers and leading practitioners with attendees via an interactive format providing actionable ideas and resources. This committee meets from November through April with the first two planning meetings held virtually to develop theme and structure and remaining meetings held weekly or bi-weekly to review progress.

Programming ad-hoc committee

To increase member engagement, build a mentor network among member companies, deepen the knowledge of what other best practice sustainability companies are doing, and inspire all New Hampshire companies to learn more about sustainable business practices. This committee meets monthly in the Fall through March and on an as-needed basis.

Advocacy Committee

To encourage our member businesses to expand their environmental and social responsibility efforts by facing outward and engaging in community, state, and federal issues while advocating for policies and programs that align with their missions and social responsibility objectives. 

Business Engagement Committee

To build a strong and engaged network of businesses interested in supporting a more sustainable NH business community. The committee will work to attract and retain members while developing awareness of the organization’s mission. The committee meets monthly on the second Tuesday of the month; currently all meetings are virtual.

PR & Marketing Committee

To position NHBSR as the recognized resource for socially responsible business in the state, expanding brand recognition and encouraging the growth of sustainable operations. This committee meets quarterly on the first month of the quarter on the third Tuesday. All meetings are virtual.

Governance Committee

This committee is responsible for recruiting new Board members; developing a succession plan for current Board executives; evaluating both overall and individual Board performance, and monitoring the adherence of the Board to the NHBSR by-laws. The committee will consist of four Board members. The committee meets monthly on the fourth Wednesday.
